About the Bombardier MRO Hangar :
Biggin Hill Airport is building a new state of the art Hangar to allow Bombardier Aviation to double the size of its service centre to create capacity for 14 Global 7500 aircraft.
The project involved the construction of 250,000 sq ft hangar, with workshop and office space, and 650,000 sq ft of apron area and surrounds.
It is the UK's largest dual-cantilever hangar with two 160m clear from entrances and underslung waves for servicing aircraft, along with offices and a customer lounge.
The highly advanced design used 1,600 tonnes of steel compared to 2,750 tonnes for a more conventional design.
The works were completed by Civils Contracting and John Reid & Sons on time and on budget and in March 2022 Bombardier are in occupation.
